WGMA communicates and coordinates with a variety of industry agencies such as the US Coast Guard, US Custom and Border Protection, Pilot Groups, and US Maritime Administration. These agencies view the WGMA as an important conduit for and ongoing dialog with maritime businesses and other stakeholders.

The West Gulf Maritime Association is a strong advocate for our members’ interest in the political community. WGMA’s legislative affairs not only coordinates advocacy efforts but also prepares legislative proposals, as well as policy analysis or recommendations on legislative bills. This information helps bring understanding to various legislative proposals that have an effect on our industry.

WGMA PAC events generate thousands of dollars used for contributions to elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels.
